Protect your vehicle from bailiffs

Bailiffs target vehicles instead of entering homes to take furniture, they are easy money for bailiffs moonlighting as motor traders.

If you are vulnerable to traffic penalties or bailiff action, then protect your vehicle.

The law states bailiffs can only take goods belonging to the debtor, but you cannot transfer ownership of goods after the warrant issue date.

Protect Your Car From Bailiffs.

  • Get somebody else to own it for you

  • Buy it on hire purchase

  • Lease your vehicle

  • Vans, taxi and minicabs, own it in a limited company

  • Keep it on a neighbours driveway

  • Use it for your business and its value is under £1350

  • Keep a disabled blue badge displayed inside

  • Register it in Scotland

If a bailiff continues enforcement action against any of the above, apply to the court to recover the vehicle and claim damages.

When a bailiff breaches enforcement regulations, they pay your legal fees.
